At home, we enjoy hosting guests from other countries and have been doing this for many years.
Frequently these have been international students, referred to us by the local schools.
Other times they have been young international adults on a working holiday experience in New Zealand.
Or simply travellers who wanted to spend a few nights here in Whitianga.
Borders are reopening slowly!
While we were unable to host homestay students in the last two years due to the travel restrictions, the good news is that finally the borders are reopening, and New Zealand is welcoming international visitors again.
We are however still working on our programme called "homestay with a teacher" (Joerg is a CELTA qualified English teacher with 15 years' teaching experience), hoping to activate it in the near future.
This is going to be for people whose first language is not English and wish to learn a little English while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Whitianga, but are not prepared to commit themselves to lessons at an English language school. This is not meant to be "home schooling", but rather simply having the advantage of being able to learn some proper English by staying in the home of a qualified and experienced English teacher.
